At the end of November the organisation will be saying goodbye to two amazing volunteers – Mary Leach and Col Simmich. We wish to pay tribute to their extraordinary contributions over some years.
Since joining she has been a very proactive member – she has been a member of the management committee for 5 ½ years, been part of the social subcommittee organising some great outings and events, assisted in catering at meetings and events, been convenor for movies, and supported boccia, delivered newsletters every month to Booval businesses as well as helping each month in bundling and labelling newsletters for distribution.
What a gem you have been Mary – we wish you every happiness and good health for the future as you move south. Thankyou so much for being so willing to give of your time and skills – we have appreciated all that you have done for us!
Col joined 60 and Better in 2005 – joining in with Boccia and being willing to help out in any way he could. Col has been a volunteer with the newsletter – assisting in the folding and stapling in the early days and has always been available to distribute newsletters to many places – which now is to 40 places around the Ipswich area. We could always count on Col to help in setting up chairs and tables for meetings – supporting and attending events, including being the cook for BBQ’s – he has also done some repairs and built a couple of cupboards to assist with storage in the office. What a trooper you have been Col – we thankyou from the bottom of our hearts and wish you every happiness as you move south.
